Another guy whines about setting up a secure connection "every time" he uses it. I have never used the older versions of either, so maybe I am avoiding these problems. It seems to forget your computer and stops working. It seems to be a problem for those who used an earlier version with an earlier version of the iOS and then upgraded both. Another two or three seem to be pissed off that when you select the Finale or Sibelius skins they type numbers in Word. There is a toggle switch to use it as a Delete or a Clear key, with Clear being the default. One or two bad reviews in the App Store seem to be whining about the delete key not working in Finale and Sibelius. I have a 4S with 6.0.1, the iPad running the same version of iOS. There have been reports that NumPad works poorly, but I have not experienced this at all. I assume that others here might also have missed out on this possible setup.
I know it is pretty old news, but *I* missed it entirely. I hope this helps out someone in my situation, or at least entertains an equipment geek for a few hours. I have a nifty tethering app on the phone that slipped through the App Store last year, but I have not yet tried it out with the MBA for NumPad. I do not know about the NumPad on the phone probably not. (If WiFi is not available the iPad can be hooked up to the MBA via the USB charging cord, and it works faster. That it is wireless is excellent! That NumPad has Finale and Sibelius skins if wonderful! And that all of this wonderful functionality cost me only $9 to set up is FANTASTIC!
That is uses equipment that I already have and like very much is great.

So having what is in essence a portable studio for my Finale output is pretty cool. But just about all my note entry work is on the laptop. I will do large page layout projects on it. My wife has a very nice 27" iMac that I only use on occasion. Plus, I have never used a num pad with Simple Entry. I also am very interested in finally learning Speedy Entry and Hyperscribe. That is my limit for the foreseeable future. I have my MBA that my home business bought me last year. I cannot afford a MIDI controller right now. A wireless, WiFi, portable setup with a num pad and MIDI controller is pretty cool. But I have never read a thread that went into this specific niche. We (ok, y'all, mostly) talk about the ins and outs of Finale and playback and MIDI output and all sorts of *other* equipment configurations. I purchased both apps and got everything running and now I have a whole studio in my pocket and messenger bag! It is like a revelation for me.ġ. It was like a bolt of lightening for me! Best bonus was the first comment. Then I got online and did some research on MIDI controllers and found this old article. There is an intermittent connection in the power loop that makes it cut off if you do certain things. One of the largest wiring harnesses is not making contact on at least half of the 30 connections. So, last night I decided to tear it apart. I figured it was my MIDI ignorance, anyway. I had no local dealer to return it to and just gave up. I bought this in Dallas, about seven hours from where I live. It is a known (now) clunker that frequently had to be returned due to the keys not functioning. So I did some research on this model that was not available when it was new. I finally did this the other day and he could not get it to see the thing either. I kept it, packed away in its original materials, in hopes of one day having the many courage to admit my inability to get my laptop to see my keyboard to a MIDI Whiz Kid friend of mine. I discovered the keyboard was DOA just last night, after nine years of ownership. It was DOA, but I believed I was a MIDI Moron and gave up.
With the iBook I purchased a cheapo $99 Edirol PCR-30 in a package deal with the laptop. With the PPC I just could not fathom the setup utility and gave up. Twice I have purchased keyboard MIDI controllers. My history has been a PowerBook 5300C, a Lombard, a white iBook, a black MacBook, and now my MacBook Air. I have always (same definition) used the application on a Macintosh laptop.

My name is Wade Rackley and I have finally - FINALLY - gotten one of those stupid password wallet apps so that maybe this user name will be my permanent one.Īnyway, I have always (meaning since Finale 2.1) used Simple Entry. When I do it is usually under a new account as I continually forget my user name or password. I have been a reader here for about eight years now.
